Aircraft Communications
SITA's AIRCOM service provides Aircraft Communications links for pilots to communicate with Airline Operations Centers and Air Traffic Control Centers. AIRCOM is the trademark for SITA's Aircraft Communications services.
- AIRCOM has traditionally provided ACARS service supporting the air-ground exchanges of the airline industry standard cockpit data link system called ACARS (Aircraft Communications Addressing & Reporting System).
- AIRCOM has also implemented ATN service for avionics using the ICAO standard Aeronautical Telecommunications Network protocol.
- AIRCOM is implementing IP service for avionics using the Internet Protocol.
- AIRCOM satellite service also gives access to the AIRCOM Cockpit Voice Service and the OnAir in-seat passenger communications services.
Air Transport Industry Messaging
SITA Air Transport Industry messaging service supports airline applications including ticketing, passenger handling, cargo, flight operations and aircraft maintenance processes. The ATI Message Service provides airlines with access to all their partners and suppliers.
Air Traffic Control services
AIRCOM's Air Traffic Control Services enables Air Traffic Service providers to connect via the AIRCOM network to customer aircraft for Controller Pilot Data Link Communications (CPDLC). SITA is also developing surveillance service using the new Automatic Dependent Surveillance Broadcast (ADS-B) technology, which replaces radar with much lower cost receivers that capture aircraft transmissions of position reports calculated on board using GPS signals.
